Autumn’s in full swing, and with it comes a flurry of announcements that remind us just how much talent and passion our industry has to offer. From the pinnacle of professional recognition to opportunities for the next generation, this week’s hospitality highlights have plenty to celebrate.
Master of Culinary Arts 2026 Opens for Entries
Applications have officially opened for the Master of Culinary Arts (MCA) 2026, one of the industry’s highest honours and a true test of skill, dedication and composure under pressure and recognises chefs, pastry chefs and restaurant managers who demonstrate mastery at the very top level.
This year’s honorary panel features some of the most respected names in hospitality, including Mark Birchall of Moor Hall, Alain Roux of The Waterside Inn, and Thomas Kochs, Managing Director of Claridge’s.

Run every four years by the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, the MCA recognises chefs, pastry chefs and restaurant managers who demonstrate extraordinary skill, dedication and leadership in their craft. It’s not just an award — it’s a lifelong badge of excellence.
Michelin Keys Announced
Last week saw the unveiling of the second Michelin Keys for Great Britain and Ireland — a distinction recognising exceptional hotels and guest experiences.
Much like the Michelin Stars celebrate culinary excellence, the Keys highlight outstanding hospitality, design and service across the country.
Among the top achievers, Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire and The Newt in Somerset both retained the maximum Three Keys, placing them among the very best for their extraordinary comfort, character and attention to detail.
In the Scottish Highlands, The Fife Arms in Braemar maintained Two Keys, and was praised for its distinctive style, art-filled interiors and warm, luxurious welcome.

Closer to home, Farlam Hall in Cumbria again proudly received One Key, with Michelin recognising it as a “very special stay” that blends classic hospitality with charm and quality.
The new awards shine a light on the full spectrum of great British stays — from countryside icons to contemporary hideaways — and mark an exciting new chapter in how excellence in hospitality is recognised.
