There are few things we at Taste Hospitality look forward to more than dining out – as is probably pretty evident, and I would choose nothing else for my birthday treat at the end of March.
So I can’t wait for my first time at Salford’s Black Friar; and enjoying the tucker that the 1AA Rosette gastro pub, reborn to great acclaim in 2021, has to offer.

Look at this proud Manc gem
Sophie and Caroline have been before and have raved and raved about their beautiful, warming and comforting British fayre, and I can’t wait to sample it for myself.
Executive Head Chef Ben Chaplin’s background includes The Church Green, Aiden Byrne’s very own gastro pub which he led as Head Chef for several years, so he is of true gastro pub pedigree. The post I do for that will be one to look out for… unless you’re particularly hungry at that time, in which case be sure to avert your eyes, lest your tummy rumble louder.
Out of Towners
This week saw the exciting announcement of the next guest chef for the Manchester’s Finest Out of Towners as Johnnie Crowe of London’s Restaurant St. Barts, on 25th March at Grand Pacific.
This beautiful restaurant has held 1 Michelin Star since 2023 which was followed by a Green Michelin Star the following year, with sustainability at the heart of all of Chef Johnnie’s food.
It’s sure to be another cracking night, and Caroline and Sophie have already secured tickets.
Tesoro Pizza Napoletana
Quick shout out for Gemma’s local Italian, Tesoro Pizza in Bolton. She was there last night and has repeatedly bigged up their pizzas to us here and we found ourselves jealous once more.
Lastly, keep an eye out for our Jobs of the Week post next week, where you will see some of our favourite new vacancies.
