Take Me to Higher Ground!

Last night, Caroline hit up Higher Ground again, for a pre-theatre meal and the food as always was exquisite. She opted for their seasonal set menu, with brand new dishes as well as some much enjoyed and previous favourites, plus an extra treat at the end – a chocolate tart that she just about had room for!

We personally had Higher Ground as a shoo-in for a Michelin Star, and can’t imagine the accolade is far off, as Caroline found again last night: beautiful, local and seasonal ingredients celebrated profusely and treated with expert love and care. We cannot say enough good words about this place.

We’re counting down to Manchester’s Finest first instalment of Out of Towners, as Jack Bond travels to our fair city, taking over TNQ this coming Tuesday with a 7 course tasting menu. Sophie and Caroline did manage to get tickets before they were all snapped up and are really looking forward to it.

It’s definitely worth keeping an eye out for their future events, as we’re sure to see some amazing talent from around the UK gracing the kitchens of Mancunia. Be sure to give them a follow on socials or subscribe to keep up to date.

Speaking of Manchester’s finest, we’ve had some really exciting positions come in for the city centre. There is a steak restaurant coming soon to the city and looking for both front of house and kitchen staff, and senior management positions within a well-known, restaurant and bar; so it’s an excellent time to be applying. Take a look at everything we have in and around Manchester here.

The first changes to the AA Guide for 2025 were announced this week, with a pair of new 4AA Rosettes, including the Tudor Pass at the beautiful Great Fosters now headed up by Alex Payne, and a whole host of new 3AA Rosettes plates have been sent out.

The Unruly Pig took the step from 2AA to 3AA Rosettes and Mark Poynton topped off a fantastic February by adding 3AA Rosettes to their 1 Michelin Star. Meanwhile both Swinton Park and Rudding Park in scenic North Yorkshire notched 3AA Rosettes for restaurants in their grounds; the former for Chef’s Table by Josh Barnes and the latter seeing Fifty Two score the accolade. In Northumberland, Matfen Hall’s Emerald Restaurant scored 3AA Rosettes for the first time.

The list of recent changes can be seen here.
