We kept a close eye on The Michelin Guide awards which took place on Monday 10th February, with the UK and Ireland’s best and brightest gathering in Glasgow.
Some amazing places picked up their first ever star; Kirk Haworth – who you may recognise from Great British Menu as their Champion of Champions for Series 19 – notched 1 Michelin Star for Plates London’s visually stunning plant-based menus.
Another exciting name to notch a Star was Jake Jones’ Forge at Middleton Lodge, taking the number of North Yorkshire’s 1 Michelin Star restaurants to six.
Closer to home, and Skof became Manchester’s second 1 Michelin Star restaurant in the city, joining Mana on the prestigious pedestal. I suspect there may be more to come from Tom Barnes and the team! In the meantime, why not take a look at a piece I wrote about my visit?

Mark Birchall picked up an amazing and much deserved 3rd Michelin Star at Moor Hall; it’s been years since we have been, so I think a return is much overdue.

Tuesday saw Caroline and Sophie light up Blackpool Tower at the Lancashire Tourism Awards, celebrating the finest of the county’s hospitality and tourism.

Some of Lancashire’s biggest names gathered and some of the notable winners included Stanley House Hotel for Hotel Wedding Venue, Bertram’s Restaurant at Crow Wood won the Taste Lancashire award, while the Best New Tourism gong was taken home by Doug Crampton for his new restaurant Eight at Gazegill.
And, perhaps most importantly, The Millstone, Mellor won the award for the best Dog Friendly Business; much to Barney, Fern and Norman’s delight!

The full list of nominees and winners can be viewed here.
The nominated charity for the event was Hospitality Action, a charity we work closely with also, with Caroline having a seat on the Northern Board, and it was excellent to see such a prestigious event giving this wonderful organisation their support.
