The countdown is on to the Michelin awards, taking place in Glasgow on 10th February. The anticipation is palpable, as rumours have already started swirling about as to who will be getting the nod.
Gareth Ward at Ynyshir has been tipped by a few to notch his third star and Jason Atherton has lent his weight to Sat Bains also collecting a third.
Meanwhile, probably the greatest excitement is around those looking at their first star. There are some hopefuls on whom I’d lay my mortgage, but I’d hate to jinx anything, so I’ll keep shtum for now and just keep a beady eye on what unfolds on Monday evening.
An exciting announcement came from Manchester’s Finest this week; the unrolling of the new Out of Towners; a supper club series where they’ll be bringing some serious talent to Manchester for one night. It’ll a fantastic opportunity to sample some of Britain’s best and brightest chef talent without making a trip out of the city.
First up is Jack Bond, now Chef Patron of 1 Michelin Star Cottage in the Wood in Braithwaite and alum of some of London’s best restaurants.
Unsurprisingly, tickets have been snapped up already, so the buzz is huge. First dibs do go to subscribers, so be sure not to miss out next time and subscribe here!
Staying in Manchester, Caroline is excited for her second outing to one of our new favourites: Higher Ground. It will be the fifth time in just over a year that a member of the Taste Hospitality team have sampled their exquisite menus; look forward to pictures after her booking on 20th February.
Manchester’s most exciting new restaurant Skof once more won big, this time at the Good Food Guide 2025, picking up ‘Best New Restaurant’; the buzz just keeps intensifying for Tom and his team and rightly so.
Caroline and Sophie will also be gracing the Lancashire Tourism Awards in Blackpool next Tuesday on 11th February, joining the celebrations for the county’s best of the industry. Be sure to come and say hello if you’re going!
