With November now in full swing, the Taste team is firmly in the festive spirit — and not just because the Christmas playlists have already started sneaking into the office. Our excitement is building for this year’s Christmas do, which we’re celebrating at a place very close to our hearts: The White Hart at Lydgate.
A Christmas Tradition Worth Keeping
We’ve always said that choosing the right venue for a team Christmas do is a bit like choosing your Christmas tree: when you know, you know.
And for us, The White Hart has that perfect mix of comfort, polish and proper northern hospitality that just feels right at this time of year.

Perched on the edge of Saddleworth with those incredible views, The White Hart strikes that lovely balance of being a treat without ever feeling stuffy. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a beautifully cooked meal but still laugh loudly, pass plates around, and argue about whether it’s too early to open the Baileys.
Head Chef Nathan is one of our favourite clients, and we can’t wait to try his food. He’s already told us where to go for drinks after our meal, we’re hoping he’ll join us for a couple after service!

On the more professional side of things, there’s something else we’re really excited about: the upcoming relaunch of Young North West Chef of the Year.
Brian Mellor, and of course our own Caroline, who is helping lead the project, have been busying away on this side of the competition. Sponsorship interest has already been incredibly strong — a real testament to how much people want to support emerging northern talent.
We’ll be releasing full sponsorship information very soon, along with details about how partners, suppliers, operators and supporters can get involved. This event is set to be big for the region, and we’re thrilled to be part of bringing it back.
