As the National Restaurant Awards approach, the categories have started to be announced; as last week the Estrella Damm Sustainability Awards shortlists were declared open. Meanwhile, a tiny village in Somerset sits named alongside the likes of Singapore and Sao Paulo in a prestigious list of restaurants and a high profile Lancashire chef makes headlines once more.
Osip
A fine dining restaurant in rural, south west England has made it on to Conde Nast’s Best New Restaurants in the World.
Osip, in Bruton, is headed up by Chef Patron Merlin Labron-Johnson and has already won 1 Michelin Star for their tasting menus inspired by the seasons, homegrown produce and driven by a farm to table ethos.
The list features the 50 best new restaurants across the globe and features sites from locations as far flung as Sydney, Paris and La Paz.
Osip makes the list after it reopened in a larger site last year, where it has kept the levels of exceptional cuisine and excitement up in equal measure; as diners from all over the world make a special journey to join them.

Lisa Goodwin-Allen
After the great news about Lisa Goodwin-Allen returning to Northcote as Chef-Patron Director hit the headlines, there was a further update that the renowned chef is to join Beaumont Hotel in Mayfair as Culinary Director.
The Lancaster born Michelin Star chef will join executive chef Brendan Fyldes in the overhaul of the culinary aspect of the 5 Star London property.
This will include a new flagship restaurant, Rosi, which promises – under Goodwin-Allen’s keen eye – to be just as special as Northcote where she has spent more than 20 years of her career.
